This is another Winnie the Pooh direct-to-video film which serves as a direct sequel to the theatrically released Pooh’s Heffalump Movie. The plot is that it is Lumpy the Heffalump’s first Halloween with Winnie the Pooh, Roo and their friends in the Hundred Acre Wood. The group discusses their plans for Halloween when Tigger warns them about the dreaded Gobloon, a monster that if you catch it before it catches you it will grant its captors one wish. After Pooh eats all of Rabbit’s trick or treat candy Roo and Lumpy set out to capture the Gobloon to wish for more. Along the way Lumpy gets frightened and refuses to continue. Roo decides to tell him the from the tv special, Boo to You! Winnie the Pooh when Piglet was afraid to go trick-or-treating but gained is courage. This inspired Lumpy to continue but he and Roo are eventually separated and Roo recruits the rest of his friends to help rescue him and find out the truth of the Gobloon. Approximately 20 minutes of this 67-minute feature is that special, whose style clearly contrasts with the rest of the film, which is a cheap move to pull for something advertised as a sequel. I would have preferred all new material. The special does not even include Roo, supposedly occurring before he moved to the Hundred Acre Wood. The rest of the film is fine, I welcome the return of Lumpy as I think he is a wonderful inclusion to the gang (with a fabulous British voice- performed by Kyle Stanger). The animation is bright and colorful, keeping with the style of the original film and many of the Pooh films from the mid-2000s (I especially loved the adorable costumes!) Overall, while not as good as the original, I enjoyed Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie, but wish there was more of it without a long flashback breaking it up. It also leaves me wanting more appearances of the lovely Lumpy and his playful report with Roo.

Final Rating: 5.5/10
