I loved watching this movie. I did not expect to like it as much as I did. It was heartwarming and had a wonderfully simple story and message. The animation quality is lovely, and the characters are likable, even the supporting characters. I even enjoyed the antics of the birds trying to catch a caterpillar that eventually turns into a butterfly. The plot centers around a fox which is rescued by a kind old lady who lives on a farm. The fox befriends a hound who is training to be a hunting dog. This is a relationship that is discouraged by everyone around them because of the state of nature: dogs were bread to hunt foxes. Their relationship becomes strained as they grow older and mature and they grow apart. But they are able to patch things up by the end of the film, going against the outside expectations for them. I would love to continue their story as they grow up (Though the movie as it stands ends perfectly); it is simply a testament to my attachment to the characters that I would like to watch more adventures with the lovable duo. I think the movie is a must watch for all ages and it is one of the underrated gems from the “dark age” of Disney Animation.

Final Rating: 8.5/10
