Admittedly, I have never watched an episode of DuckTales in any of its incarnations. All I know about the series is the fantastic theme song, so I am not the target audience for the film. It also conically fits between the third and fourth seasons of the original series. Starting off, I did not like any of the characters, I found them all unbearably annoying or stereotypical (or both!) As for the plot, it is very derivative of Indiana Jones, down to the title card being modeled after it, but somehow manages to be boring given that source material. I also saw strong connections to Aladdin in its desert setting complete with a magic lamp and genie as its central plot device (Aladdin was released two years after this film but it’s likely they simply both draw from the same source material, One Thousand and One Nights). The movie also did not perform well at the box office and put a halt to further theatrical releases of DuckTales Films. If you are a fan of the show you might find something redeeming or entertaining in this clique and highly derivative film, but if not, I cannot recommend anyone watch this film.

Final Rating: 2/10
